Medical supplies and home health

Every store carries medical supplies, and our Fort Myers store carries the widest range. If something is not on the shelf we will order it and call you when it arrives.

Will my plan cover it?

Some items are covered by Medicare Part B or a commercial plan, and some are not. Diabetic shoes, for instance, are often covered with the right documentation from your prescriber. Bring the item or the prescription to the counter and we will check for you before you pay.

If we do not have it

Tell us what you need. We order most items for next-day or two-day arrival and call you the moment it is in. There is no charge for ordering something in, and no obligation if you change your mind.

What we stock

Medical supplies are available at all five pharmacies. If something is not on the shelf we can usually order it for next day, and we will tell you honestly if we cannot.

  • Mobility — walkers, rollators, canes, crutches, wheelchair accessories.
  • Bathroom safety — shower chairs, grab bars, raised toilet seats, transfer benches. The least glamorous category and the one that prevents the most falls.
  • Diabetes supplies — meters, test strips, lancets, control solution. Bring your prescription and insurance card; coverage varies more than people expect and we will check before you pay.
  • Braces and supports — wrist, knee, ankle, back.
  • Compression stockings — in the strengths prescribers actually specify.
  • Wound care and incontinence supplies.
  • Blood pressure monitors, and we will show you how to use one properly.

Ask before you buy

Supplies are a category where the wrong choice is expensive and useless — a brace that does not fit, compression in the wrong strength, a meter your insurance will not cover strips for.

Tell us what you actually need it for. A pharmacist will point you at the right item, and will say when the cheaper one is just as good or when you do not need it at all.

Some items need a prescription for insurance to cover them, even when you could buy them off the shelf — compression stockings and diabetes supplies especially. Ask us first; it is often worth getting the prescription.

Delivery

Supplies go out on free delivery alongside prescriptions, which matters when the item is a walker and the patient is the person who would have collected it.

Fitting and sizing

Come in if you can. Braces, compression and mobility aids all depend on measurement, and a guess made online is the commonest reason these things end up in a cupboard.
