What compounding means
A compounded medication is prepared by our pharmacists to your prescriber’s specifications. It exists because the manufactured product does not suit you — the wrong strength, a form you cannot swallow, an ingredient you react to, or a product that has been discontinued.
Compounded preparations are not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are dispensed. The names listed below describe what a preparation is. They are not claims that it is proven to treat any condition, and nothing on this page is a recommendation to use any particular medicine.
