Does it feel like you are always running to the pharmacy for another refill?
One medication is due this week, another next week, and before long you are making several trips a month. For anyone taking a handful of medications, keeping track of different refill dates becomes a chore. There is a simpler way.
What is Medication Synchronization?
Medication Synchronization (Med Sync) coordinates your regular refills so that eligible medications are ready around the same day each month. Instead of remembering several dates, you plan for one pickup day for most of your maintenance medications.
Why it helps
- Fewer pharmacy trips. Collect several prescriptions together.
- Easier refill management. Your regular medications stay on a predictable schedule.
- Better adherence. Less chance of running out or missing doses.
- Less stress for caregivers. Easier to manage prescriptions for a family member.
- Personal support. Your pharmacy team spots refill problems early and answers questions.
It is particularly useful if you take medications for diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease or another long-term condition.
How does it work?
Your pharmacy team reviews your prescriptions and lines up the eligible refill dates. Where it is needed, we contact your prescriber to request refills or adjust a quantity.
Some medications keep their own refill schedule because of insurance rules or prescribing requirements, so not everything will always land on the same day. The aim is to make the routine simpler, not to promise that every single item lines up.
One less thing to worry about
All five of our pharmacies offer Medication Synchronization free of charge: Castillo’s Pharmacy and Del Prado Discount Pharmacy in Cape Coral, Family Pharmacy & Medical Supply in Fort Myers, Brandon Pharmacy and Compounding, and Riverview Pharmacy and Compounding.
